What is griha pravesh
Meaning
Griha pravesh is the entry worship before a family begins living in a new or newly renovated home. It honours the threshold, establishes a kalash as auspicious presence, and often includes Ganesh, navagraha or vastu elements, boiling milk as prosperity symbol, havan, and aarti with prasad.
Typical order at the house
- Sankalp with family names and gotra as your elders give.
- Ganesh and sometimes Gauri invocation.
- Kalash sthapana and worship at the main door.
- Entry of the yajman carrying the kalash or following the pandit’s cue.
- Boiling milk ceremony in the kitchen.
