Sundarkand Samagri

Focus on seating and sound

Sundarkand path is long in recitation but modest in materials. Clear floor space or chairs for listeners, good ventilation, and a quiet room matter more than exotic items. Hanuman murti or Ram parivar photo, diya, incense, and prasad for Hanuman ji are standard.

Typical samagri

  • Ramayan or Sundarkand text (Hindi or Sanskrit per family)
  • Red or saffron cloth for altar
  • Flowers, especially red hibiscus if available
  • Sindoor for Hanuman offering where custom allows
  • Prasad: many choose besan laddu, fruit, or churma
  • Water, copper lota, and bell for aarti
  • Optional: small brass gada for symbolism

After the path

Plan prasad distribution and cleanup if the session runs past midnight on saturdays. Read why families do Sundarkand and book via Sundarkand path.

Room and sound

Move fragile decor away from aarti movement. If you use a Bluetooth speaker for backup pitch, test it before the pandit arrives—live voice is preferred. Hanuman photos should face a respectful direction per elder advice, not whichever wall has a plug point.

Offer water to readers and guests; long paths dehydrate. Afterward, ventilate the room so incense does not linger in AC filters. These habits matter as much as forgetting sindoor in a drawer.

Hanuman altar details

Many families place a small Hanuman murti on red cloth with a diya to the right as elders direct. Keep sindoor in a separate bowl if only the priest applies it. Books should be clean, not borrowed from a library with stickers on the cover.

If you print lyrics for guests, use a readable font size—Sundarkand is long and eyes tire. A simple thermos of warm water for the pandit is kindness that costs little and keeps voice steady through recitation.

After the path

Sweep softly, not while ashes are still warm from diya. Store Hanuman photo respectfully rather than leaning it in a shoe rack. Leftover prasad can be shared with neighbours; do not leave it outside where animals fight over plates in apartment corridors.

Questions

Do we need a havan?

Some families add a short aarti only; havan is optional unless elders require it.

Can children sit through?

Yes with breaks; share ages so the pandit paces recitation.

Is sindoor offering required?

Tradition-dependent; confirm on WhatsApp.

Microphone for large flats?

Useful for fifty guests; not a samagri item but mention it.

Where is the final list confirmed?

Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma sends the authoritative samagri or scope note on WhatsApp before the visit; treat this page as background reading only.

Gada metal size?

Symbolic small brass is enough; not a gym weight.

What to send

The name of the rite, your area in Bengaluru, and a preferred day. If elders have a family custom, mention it in the first message.

How to book

Message either WhatsApp number. Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma does the work at the house in Bengaluru and nearby areas within about one hundred kilometres. The fee and material list are shared in that chat; they are not printed on this page. The site form opens WhatsApp only and does not store your details.
