Mahalaxmi Puja

महालक्ष्मी पूजा

The rite

Mahalaxmi Puja is a home worship of Goddess Lakshmi, who is honoured as the source of nourishment, steadiness, and auspicious fortune in the household. Families in Bengaluru often schedule it before Diwali, on a Friday, or when they want the home prepared for guests and festivals with a clear Vedic order. Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma conducts the vidhi at your residence, following North Indian tradition. A practical samagri list is shared on WhatsApp before the day so you can arrange items without last-minute confusion.

Time at the house: About 2–3 hours at home

Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma does this at the house in Bengaluru. The fee is not printed on this page. It is sent on WhatsApp with the material list.

Why families book it

You might book Mahalaxmi Puja when the year has felt financially tight, when you are moving into a new flat, or when you want the kitchen and prayer space blessed together before a major celebration. The ritual is also common after a difficult period in the family, as a way to reset the home atmosphere with mantra, lamp, and offering rather than superstition.

The puja is an act of discipline and gratitude, not a promise of a fixed income or windfall. Panditji explains each step in plain language so elders and children can follow. Outcomes in life depend on many factors; this ceremony focuses on correct worship at home within the visit area around Bengaluru.

When families ask

  • Before Diwali or Lakshmi Panchami when the home is being prepared for lamps and guests
  • On an auspicious Friday or after consulting the family priest for a suitable tithi
  • When starting a new business year at home or blessing a home office corner
  • After renovation, when the family wants the main altar and kitchen honoured together
  • When elders suggest Lakshmi worship for household harmony and steady resources

Short vidhi

  1. Sankalpa with the family name, gotra if known, and the purpose of inviting Mahalakshmi

  4. Establishing the Lakshmi image or picture on a clean cloth with rice and turmeric
  5. Shodashopachara or simplified sixteen-fold offering as per the family tradition
  6. Recitation of Lakshmi Ashtottara, Sri Suktam portions, or stotra as time allows
  7. Offering of lotus or seasonal flowers, kumkum, and lighted ghee lamp
  8. Naivedya with kheer, puri, or seasonal sweets prepared in the home kitchen
  9. Chanting of Lakshmi mantras with the family joining on selected refrains
  10. Aarti with camphor or ghee lamp while names of household members are included

Questions

Can Mahalaxmi Puja be done in a rented apartment in Bengaluru?

Yes. A corner of the living room or dining area is set up for the day. Panditji advises on ventilation for the lamp and havan if included.

Do we need a silver Lakshmi idol?

A picture or existing murti is sufficient. Panditji confirms on WhatsApp what your altar already has.

Is this the same as Diwali Lakshmi Puja?

The deity is the same, but timing and emphasis differ. You can book a standalone Mahalaxmi Puja on another date if Diwali night is too crowded.

Should the whole family sit through the ritual?

It helps when key members are present for sankalpa and aarti. Children may join for short segments.

Will the pandit bring all samagri?

You arrange items from the WhatsApp list. Panditji brings his own prayer books and essential ritual tools.

Can we combine this with Satyanarayan Puja?

Sometimes families schedule back-to-back worship on the same day. Mention this when booking so time is planned.

Is a havan always part of Mahalaxmi Puja?

Many home versions are puja-only. If you want homa, say so when booking so duration and samagri are adjusted.
